Sourdough Starter Workshop
Let’s slow down and spend some time learning the art of making homemade sourdough bread starter. Bread is a fantastic staple to learn how to make and sourdough bread is the best, both in terms of nutrition and flavor. Before we can make bread, we must first talk about starters!
Time & Location
Oct 14, 2023, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

About the event
Join us in the Rebel Farm Greenhouse to learn about sourdough starters and how they can be passed down through generations.
There will be a $ 20.00 charge at the door and will include all of the materials you need to take home a starter. Rachal Mumme of Hillsdale Hearth will teach her method of creating a starter and how to keep it alive, possibly for generations! A sourdough starter is a symbiotic community of lactic acid bacteria and wild yeast. Both yeast and bacteria feed on the carbohydrates present in flour when hydrated with water and allowed to ferment. We will go over some of the different flours and flavors that can be created.
